Sparks are very fast
They travel at one hundred kilometres per hour in the pipes of the suction system and, in less than three seconds, they reach the silo.

The spark detector is faster than the sparks. It is able to see them with its extremely sensitive infrared sensor, intercepts them and quenches them immediately. It does not require any periodic checks. The system is a “total-monitoring” system. It checks whether the spark has been quenched, warns promptly if something is not working properly and, if necessary, stops the quenching system.
